Harvard University Traditions & Pastimes:

Housing Day - Prior to spring break, members of each House Committee pick up letters for their assigned first-year students.  Each House storms through the Yard to personally deliver letters and welcome each first-year student.

Crimson Fridays  - Wear your Crimson pride!

Crimson Jam - 1st major social event of the school year where students enjoy a concert and block party.

Yardfest - This festival style event is usually in March. This campus festival offers a cookout, concert and block parties.

Primal Scream - When students streak the stress away the night before final exams. When the clock strikes midnight students streak in the Yard.

Jumping Weeks Bridge - This tradition dares undergraduates to dive from Weeks Bridge into the Charles River

Peeing on John Harvards Shoe - urinating on the statue of John Harvard specially his shoe!

Widener Library Stacks Challenge - we’ll have you look this one up on your own!

 

Harvard University Campus Culture:

Harvard is an elite private university located in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the Boston Area with around 7,600 undergraduate students. Admissions is extremely competitive as the Harvard acceptance rate is only 3%.

Student have a lot of campus pride and like the fact that they are surrounded by like minded classmates. Harvard is known for having an intense work load and the students agree that being surrounded by people who want to achieve great things makes tackling the work easier. 

In accordance with the College's philosophy and values, Harvard has not had a Greek Life on campus which is preferred by all who attend. On-campus residential housing is an integral part of student life, and freshmen live at the center of campus and upperclassmen live in 12 undergraduate houses.
